Meeting Plan Members' Special Needs: VisionCare Plan has been carefully designed to safeguard each plan member's continuing visual health.
We furnish materials as needed. The plan is driven by the services and materials necessary to protect a plan member's visual welfare.
Rather than compromising because of scheduled benefit limits, plan members who use VisionCare
network providers get what they need. For example, a person who needs trifocal lenses does not have to choose between paying more or settling for a cheaper (and less adequate) alternative.
Plan members sometimes choose lens features that the plan doesn't cover. If a network doctor considers a noncovered lens or lens treatment necessary for the patient's visual welfare, the doctor can request that it be covered. Otherwise, a plan member can have cosmetic upgrades at wholesale lab costs plus a modest service fee.

Nothing is more important to us than quality, both in the selection of VisionCare Plan doctors and in the services they perform for their patients. We check credentials and choose only those professionals who share our commitment to
service quality standards:
Doctors' credentials that meet nationally-accepted managed care guidelines.
Detailed standards for exams and materials.
Optometric consultants to review claims and resolve complaints.
Prescriptions sent only to approved labs.
Mandatory criteria for labs in fabricating lenses.
Cost Control
Because of our negotiated professional fees and volume purchasing, we consistently deliver high-quality eyecare at the
best price.
VisionCare Plan doctors have no financial interest in lenses or frames and, therefore, prescribe solely to meet patients' needs.
Each participating doctor agrees to accept our fee as payment in full.
Commercial labs compete annually for our materials contracts.
Plan members receive materials at our wholesale cost.
Optional upgrades are also based on wholesale costs.
