Michael M. Sonderby Joins CompBenefits Board of Directors; Will Chair Audit Committee
Atlanta, Georgia February 7, 2007 CompBenefits Corporation today announced that Michael M. Sonderby, CPA, has joined its Board of Directors. Mr. Sonderby will also serve as chairman of the company's audit committee.
A retired managing partner of Deloitte & Touche, Mr. Sonderby served as managing partner of Philadelphia from 1995 to 2003 and managing partner, enterprise risk services - East region, from 1998 to 2000. From 1984 to 1995, he was partner-in-charge of audit services in the New Jersey office, responsible for the audit function in North and Central New Jersey.
Mr. Sonderby's career with Deloitte & Touche spanned 38 years with corporate clients in telecommunications products and services, technology, consumer products and financial services. As a managing partner, he acted as advisory partner to numerous clients' boards of directors and audit committees and is a recognized leader in the areas of internal control policies and procedures.
Mr. Sonderby also served on the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) insurance companies committee, providing accounting and auditing technical guidance and support.
In addition to his professional achievements, Mr. Sonderby has a notable track record for his leadership in the community, including serving on the Board of Directors of United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania, American Red Cross (Essex, New Jersey), and Newark Boys & Girls Club (New Jersey).
